Yards Creek Scout Reservation

(This description describes the YCSR before the camp was closed in February 1997. There were some accompanying photographs that have been transferred to other pages.)

Yards Creek Scout Reservation is a 510 acre Scouting retreat where camp staff, unit leaders and scouts work together to learn the best that Scouting can offer in developing better units, qualified Scouters, and skillful, self-reliant boys and young men. The camp is located on the grounds of the Yards Creek Pumping Station in Blairstown, New Jersey adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, within hiking distance of the Delaware River and the Delaware Water Gap. At this time, Yards Creek is available for limited-use camping only.

Yards Creek has a private lake, row boats, canoes, sail boats, archery range, rifle range, shotgun trap shooting range, handicraft area, ecology area, Scoutcraft area and campfire circle. A first-year camper program is conducted at a special area in camp. Equipment is also available for hiking, canoeing on the Delaware River and overnight camping. Three well-balanced meals, all checked by a dietitian, are served daily in the central dining hall. The camp contains fourteen campsites equipped with tent platforms, two-man tents, cots, latrine and wash stands with running water. Hot central showers are available.

Yards Creek is annually certified by the State of New Jersey and is a Nationally Accredited Camp, inspected annually by the Boy Scouts of America. Rules for acceptance and participation in Scouting programs are the same for everyone without regard to handicap, race, color, or national origin. Central New jersey Council reserves the right to include the likeness of any Scout or leader in any photographic or video promotional material.
