The Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel le Ferne in Kent is cited in the heart of where the Battle of Britain took place in the skies above England in the summer of 1940.
The centre piece of the memorial is a moving statue by Harry Gray (left) showing a Battle of Britain pilot looking out across the Channel. The base is engraved with RAF badges and close by is a memorial wall listing all those who flew in the battle. Two replica aircraft - a Spitfire and a Hurricane - are also found on the site, as well as a gift shop and toilets.
